Discovered by Henry Morse (1859-1938) (United Kingdom, before 1920).
Introduced in France by Grandes Roseraies du Val de la Loire in 1920 as 'Climbing Chateau de Clos Vougeot'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1922 as 'Château de Clos Vougeot, Cl.'.
