Amatsu-Otome keeps its colour particularly well, and we would still adhere, to our earliest convictions that this still remains the best yellow rose.

Amatsu-Otome ('Chrysler Imperial' x 'Doreen') One of the most beautiful and useful yellow roses ever to reach this country. Light golden yellow with a tinge of orange on the outside petals with very little fading until petal fall. It is very prolific. We have recorded seven flushes of bloom during one season.

Amatsu Otome This rose is already No. 3 on our list, and there is no doubt at all that in another year it will be second only to 'Super Star'. This might be a surprise to some who do not know the variety, but not so much to those who do. We have no hesitation in saying that this is the best yellow rose that we have. It is a flower with plenty of petals, and the bush is exceptionally free-flowering and disease-resistant. The plants are not tall, keeping around the three foot mark, but it is outstanding for a yellow rose. It is always reliable for a good bowl of blooms whenever a Rose Show is on, and the public quickly takes to a variety with all the merits of a rose like this. As good yellows are far from plentiful, the future of this variety seems assured.

New Roses.   On present indications we would say that in Amatsu-Otome we have the most reliable yellow Hybrid rose for about ten years. It is not a golden yellow, but still it is a good colour, a very shapely bloom, and, most important of all, it just grows and grows. This rose also brings a new hybridiser into the limelight, namely, Teranishi, of Japan. We shall look forward to further successes in the future.

p12.  ibid. Amatsu-Otome HT. (Teranishi) An outstanding yellow rose. The blooms are all very well-shaped and the petals reflex naturally. The foliage is light green tinted with red when young, and there is always plenty of it. Exceptionally free flowering and disease-resistant. The flowers are always of good quality from bud to open bloom and there are 40 petals. ('Chrysler Imperial' x 'Doreen').
