The Roses of 1881... Duke of Teck (hybrid perpetual, G. Paul) must be designated as one of the brightest roses; its scarlet is dazzling, lasting, does not pass to violet. Smooth wood; large, glossy foliage; bushy habit; the medium-sized bloom has a globular form and firm petals. For its rare colouring Rank 1-2, but is often sinilar to Duke of Edinburgh.
Book  (1882)  Page(s) 10.

Duke of Teck... 1880 Ecarlate. Fleur grande. Plante vigoureuse.

Duke of Edinburgh Type.—The only English rose which is the head of a type was sent out by George Paul in 1868. The habit of growth is much like that of Jacqueminot, but the foliage is generally longer and larger. The flowers are not permanent in color, burning very quickly in the sun, and are very sparsely produced in the autumn. It is a very beautiful family when grown in a moist, cool climate; but there are few of the members that will do well under our hot sun. The varieties best known, mostly of recent origin, are: Brightness of Cheshunt, Dr. Hooker, Duke of Connaught, Duke of Teck, Robert Marnock, S. Reynolds Hole, Sultan of Zanzibar, The Shah.

New Roses.
Coming down to 1879-80 I cannot speak with so much confidence as usual, owing to the unfavourable summer for blooming, but the following have pleased me best:
Duke of Teck (Hybrid Perpetual)...
Magazine  (Oct 1880)  Page(s) 155.

Roses Nouvelles Anglaises.
Duke of Teck (Paul et fils). Cramoisi écarlate brillant. Fleurs grandes, très doubles; plante florifère; beau feuillage.
Magazine  (1 Mar 1880)  Page(s) 39.

Duke of Teck (Semeurs Paul et Son)
Magazine  (1880)  Page(s) 39.

"Bank Holiday at Cheshunt."
Three new Roses to be sent out next year are Duke of Teck, Climbing Glory of Cheshunt and Earl of Beaconsfield. Of these, the first has already been described more than once in your columns. It is of strong-growing habit, free-flowering, and bright scarlet in colour. Perhaps it is a trifle undersized, but it has already won prizes and certificates wherever exhibited.
