Introduced in Australia by F. C. Davis in 1862 as 'Grandissima'.

Cherry-red, mauve flecks.  Mild fragrance.  Large, full (26-40 petals), cupped, globular, quartered bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Medium green, dense foliage.  3 to 5 leaflets.

Notes:
The attribution to Hardy, first mentioned in the Journal des Roses of 1885, is disputed. Hardy doesn't list this cultivar in his catalogues of 1837 and 1844.
Louis-Philippe I (October 6, 1773 Palace Royale - October 26, 1850 Claremont House, Surrey), went into exile after the French revolution, returned to France after Napoléon's exile and was crowned Roi des Français in 1830. He was deposed in the 1848 revolution and went again into exile.
