Bred by François Fontaine (père) (France, 1849).
Introduced in France by François Fontaine in 1854 as 'Madame de Cambacérès'.
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1863 as 'Duchesse de Cambacérès'.
Class:
Damask Perpetual, Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Carmine-pink, purple shading, light pink reverse.  Moderate, centifolia, sweet fragrance.  Average diameter 3".  Medium, very full (41+ petals), cluster-flowered, cupped, globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Rounded buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, upright, well-branched.  Dark green foliage.  

Height: 5' to 6' (150 to 185cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Hardy.
