John Scott (June 4, 1751 Newcastle upon Tyne - January 13, 1838 London), 1st Earl of Eldon (from 1821), High Chancellor of Great Britain (1801-06, 1807-27) his grandson, John Scott (December 10, 1805 - September 18, 1854), 2nd Earl of Eldon, Tory politician his son, John Scott (November 8,1845 - August 10,1926), 3rd Earl of Eldon (from September 18, 1854) Henry Coppin was living as a gardener in the same village as the Earl of Eldon had his mansion "Shirley House". It is probable that he dedicated the rose to 3rd Earl.
