Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1882 as 'Alfred K. Williams'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Carmine-red, ages to fuchsia / magenta .  Moderate fragrance.  45 petals.  Large, full (26-40 petals), globular, scalloped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, upright.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
