Gay Vista. 1957. Polyantha. Clusters of single deep pink blooms, centred white, on a low-growing and free-flowering bush to 1m x 1½m. Slightly fragrant.

'Gay Vista' achieved some measure of fame. Released in 1960 it, too, bears large trusses of single pink flowers with a white centre, as many as fifty blooms to a cluster. It, too, was described as being suitable for hedges. Thanks to Deane Ross, it is now obtainable again. Mine has not yet attained hedge proportions, but it is doing well. The great German rose breeder, Wilhelm Kordes, in his book entitled simply Roses and published in 1964....but he speaks favourably of ‘Gay Vista’ .....

p67. Kelvin Trimper, South Australia. Gay Vista. 1957 Riethmuller, Polyantha. A magnificent shrub, with large clusters of single, mid-pink blooms, centred white. The bush will grow to 1½ metres x 1½ metres, with long, arching stems. It flowers freely, and deserves a place in all gardens.
