Book (1990) Page(s) 208. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE. This is a cross between 'The Squire' and 'Mary Rose'. At its best, it produces superb deep crimson blooms of neat full-petalled rosette formation. The growth is exceptionally strong and hardy but, like 'Fisherman's Friend', it has developed a tendency to blackspot, which is a great shame since it was a very hopeful line of development. Rich Old Rose fragrance. Height 4ft. Austin(U.K.), 1987.
