Registration name: Léopold I (hybrid perpetual, Van Asche, 1863)
Origin:
Bred by Van Asche (Unknown, 1863).
Introduced in Australia by Charles Wyatt, Frogmore Nursery in 1868 as 'Léopold Premier'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Dark red to purple.  Moderate fragrance.  Medium to large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Léopold I was born 18 December 1790 and died 10 December 1865 in Laeken, Belgium, where he is buried.
