Bred by Jacobus Verschuren-Pechtold (1884-1946) (Netherlands, before 1946).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1950 as 'Spek's Yellow'.
Introduced in Netherlands by Jan Spek Rozen BV in 1950 as 'Spek's Yellow'.
Introduced in United States by Jackson & Perkins Co. (Newark, NY) in 1950 as 'Golden Scepter'.

Hybrid Tea.  

Deep yellow.  Moderate fragrance.  35 petals.  Average diameter 4.5".  Large, full (26-40 petals), high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  

Upright.  Glossy, leathery foliage.  

Height: up to 4¼' (up to 130cm).  

USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .
