p21.  Harry H. Hazlewood:
Dishonest Name Changing. From time to time in these articles references have been made to the flagrant practice of changing the names of roses in order to secure mercenary advantages for the distributor. In nearly every instance the original and, legal name is omitted and the changeling is posed and publicised as a different variety, causing loss and disappointment, to say nothing of confusion to many. One particularly glaring instance is the changing of Spek's Yellow, raised in Holland, to Golden Scepter in U.S.A., where it was described as "one of our own creations" by the American firm concerned.

p77.  Dr. A. S. Thomas.  Yellow Roses.
Among the vivid yellows of a slightly lighter colour than these two [Wheatcroft's Gold and Ellinor Le Grice] we find Spek's Yellow its medium sized blooms and very vigorous growth make it one of our best garden roses;

p131.  Frank Mason, Feilding N.Z.  Some Newer Roses.
Spek's Yellow is a beautiful rose for cutting and a really free bloomer.  The blooms do not aways come up to exhibition standards on account of their size, but as a garden rose it will take a lot of beating.
Book  (1952)  Page(s) 130.

p130.  Mr. W. H. Wilson, N.Z.
Spek's Yellow: A lovely yellow creation, having long pointed buds and a profusion of flowers. Not so intense in colour as Madame Pierre S. du Pont, but has not the habit of split centres, as has the latter. For a yellow garden decorative, this is the rose.

p131.  Noel Cutler, N.Z.
