Ian Spriggs. Where would be we without the following: The sheer beauty of ‘Megan Louise’….
Book  (1991)

p96 Mr. Morrie Duce, Queensland. My Twelve Best Exhibition Roses Symposium. ‘Megan Louise’. It is a great two toned pink, but tends to have a lot of split centres. Holds well. Good in both autumn and spring.

p102 Eric Welsh. ‘Megan Louise’ Two toned pink, good both in spring and autumn. Prolific bloomer, but sometimes has split centres. Likes heat.
Book  (1989)  Page(s) 98.

Mrs. Con Ryan. Western Australia. I place the accent on growing a good rose rather than too much dressing and fiddling. Such types as ‘Megan Louise’ and ….need little or no dressing and can be shown as picked from the garden, which is wonderful.
Book  (1988)

p24 Eric Welsh of Gosford, New South Wales ….His elder daughter hadn't missed out as a hybrid tea rose, named 'Megan Louise', became the first Australian-bred rose to be voted Rose of the Year by nurserymen.

p28. It’s expected that Eric Welsh of Gosford, New South Wales, will be the President of the National Rose Society of Australia in 1988. He has a very beautiful rose garden and is a good hybridist. ‘Megan Louise’, one of his creations has been on sale for a couple of years..... It is a very beautiful large pink rose with excellent form and a very vigorous plant.

p20 E. B. Pietsch [editor]. Review of Varieties Introduced into Australia in 1984. ‘Megan Louise’ (Welsh). 16 reports. Garden display rating 6.2, conflicting reports received about this pink rose. Medium plant habit. Good foliage. Average disease resistance, some complain of black spot. Early to mid season flowerer. This rose can be good.

p38 Ron Bell. Rose Breeding in Australia. ‘Megan Louise’ (E. Welsh, NSW). This is an attractive pink with carmine tones and is a strong grower and very hardy.

p87 Mr. Len Johnstone, Queensland. ‘Megan Louise’ has everything to make it a good exhibition rose, lovely colour, good form, but too many split centres.

p92 Mr. Kevin Johns, Queensland. ‘Megan Louise’. No need to explain to Rose Society people about this one. Except, that at my home in Brisbane it suffers with split centres in spring, but we do get some very nice blooms in autumn.

p97 Mr. Dean Stringer, South Australia. ‘Vol de Nuit, ‘Alpine Sunset’ and ‘Megan Louise’ would rate at number seven, eight and nine. I have had many good blooms of each, but they have always come a week or so after the shows.

p99 June and Don Phillips, Western Australia. ‘Megan Louise’ Bush is rather slow in developing – third year in garden. Colour is an attractive deep rose pink with a lighter centre. Form is exhibition quality, but many blooms have split centres.

p38 ‘Megan Louise’ (Welsh). Dual purpose, double, fragrant, bushy. Pink and cream.

p22 E.B. Pietsch. [Editor] Review of Varieties Introduced into Australia Since 1982. ‘Megan Louise’ (Welsh) 12 reports. Garden display rating 7.0, exhibition rating 7.2. This pink rose won the best Australian-raised rose at the Rose Society of Victoria Spring Rose Show in 1982. Colour deep pink. Good form. Some confused centres. Reports vary from ‘excellent’ to ‘disappointing’. I think you would have to try this one yourself.

p32 The Australian Rose Award, 1985. Mrs. Heather Rumsey ….She worked very hard in the promotion of Mr. Eric Welsh’s rose ‘Megan Louise’ – the royalties from which are to go to the National Rose Society of Australia.
(1985)  Page(s) 6.  Includes photo(s).

‘Megan Louise’ HT (Welsh). This Australian raised rose is a well-formed flower of over 40 petals. The colour is a deep rose-pink in the bud, and as the bloom unfolds the inner petals are lighter. Commences blooming early in the season, and continues until late, on a well-balanced plant. Fragrant. For the excellent performance of this rose over a period of several years it was selected as ‘R.A.F.T. Rose of the Year” for 1984. The raiser of this rose has donated it to The National Rose Society of Australia who will benefit from the sale of this cultivar.
