Origin:
Bred by Hippolyte Jamain (France, 1880).
Introduced in Australia by Edwin Smith, Clifton Nursery in 1885 as 'Souvenir de Madame Alfred Vy'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Dark red, purple shading, ages to violet .  Strong fragrance.  Large, full (26-40 petals), cupped bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.
