Origin:
Bred by Mille-Mallet (France, 1859).
Introduced in Australia by Joseph Harris, South Yarra Nurseries in 1865 as 'Triomphe d'Amiens'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Crimson, cerise shading, violet highlights, crimson veining.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), in small clusters bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
3 to 7 leaflets.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
The breeder was located in Amiens.
Said to be similar to 'Général Jacqueminot' - see. At the end of the 19th century it was deemed a synonym due to its likeness, however, this is not a synonym in the modern sense.
According to Jules Margottin, this sport falls back to 'Général Jacqueminot' almost every time - see References.
