Introduced in France by Boyau in 1859 as 'Madame Boll'.
Introduced in Australia by George J. Smith, Royal Exotic Nursery in 1862 as 'Madame Boll'.

Class:

Hybrid Perpetual, Portland.

Bloom:

Deep pink. Strong fragrance. Average diameter 4". Large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, cupped bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Growing:

USDA zone 6b and warmer. Hardy.

Notes:

Parentage is unsure, please see References. 'Mme Boll' was issued by Joseph Boyau in 1859, however attributed by H. P. Ellwanger in 1880 to Daniel Boll from USA. It is evident that Boyau knew the Bolls, as he issued 'Souvenir de Monsieur Boll' in 1866. Whether Boyau or Boll was the breeder is not fully resolved.
