New Roses 1927. Climbing Madame Butterfly (HT. Smith 1926) 6. It was hoped that this variety would be a real acquisition, but after a good trial the colour is decidedly lighter than the parent, and is so acknowledged by the English distributors. On its performance here it is too close to 'Clb. Ophelia' to justify two varieties.

New Roses 1927. Climbing Madame Butterfly (HT. Smith) A well-developed sport from the popular 'Madame Butterfly', and sure to be a favourite. The colour so far has not been as dark as the parent, but this variety is so variable that richer colour is easily possible when the weather becomes cooler. 5/– each.
Book  (1926)  Page(s) 181.
