Origin:
Bred by Pierre Guillot (1855-1918) (France, 1887). Bred by Jean-Baptiste André (fils) Guillot (1827-1893) (France, 1887).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1892 as 'Madame Hoste'.
Class:
Tea.  
Bloom:
Yellow - white, deep yellow undertones.  Moderate fragrance.  Very large, double (17-25 petals), globular, scalloped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Large buds.  
Habit:
Upright.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Issued jointly by father and son.
Pierre Guillot states that 'Mme Hoste' is a descendant of 'Safrano'.- see References.
Hoste (1823 - June 1897 Heuilley-sur-Saône, Côte d'Or), nurseryman in Vaise and Monplaisir, Lyon for roses, chrysanthemes, dahlias. Succeeded by André Charmet in 1895 (Möller's Deutsche Gartenzeitung, July 10, 1897, p. 256)
