Cette dernière dénomination a été appliquée par le jury belge, jugeant les produits envoyés à une grande exhibition florale à Tournay.

During the nights of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of January my thermometer registered here, in a walled garden at five feet from the ground, and in the open, 23°, 21°, 22°, and 22° of frost respectively... The snow here froze on the branches, and was three inches deep on the ground.... My list of uninjured (No. 1) may therefore be relied upon as containing only thoroughly hardy sorts.

Cechet Vater in den Handel kam, denselben, der neben seiner schönen Rosencultur eine Pflanzung von 30,000 Gladiolen-Zwiebeln in 200 Varietäten betreibt.

At the end of this long series of names of new roses from our area, I cannot omit mentioning the rose Berthe Levêque, which was recently introduced by Mr. Cechet père into the trade, the same one who, in addition to his beautiful rose culture, also plants 30,000 gladiolus bulbs in 200 varieties.
