Book (1914) Page(s) 280. King of Siam, H. T., red
Magazine (Oct 1912) Page(s) 153-154. KING OF SIAM (Hybride de Thé).
Magazine (1911) Page(s) 134. Mr. Winter in Bordighera, who usually marches at the forefront, concerns himself nowadays apparently less with rose breeding but even more with the growong and crossing of palm trees; thus Mr. Bräuer in San remo is actually the only one who pays his full attention to breeding new Hybrid Teas. His successes are quite satisfactory, especially in Riviera-roses; take for example his Contessa Caecilia Lurani, Fürstin Bülow, Wilhelm Hartmann, Prinzessin Viktoria von Battenberg, Zarina Alexandra, and foremost, his newest rose, King of Siam. I especially liked a very dark bluish black rose, a seedling of General Mac Arthur, which has not been named yet and not yet propagated, but gave me the impression that it could be play a great role next season on the Boulevards of Paris. The villa of Mr. Bräuer at the foot of Monte Solare near San Remo.... 'King of Siam' is really an excellent cut rose, which has the advantage that it starts to bloom 10 days before most of the other red roses, as a conosseur in Germany has tested.
