Her lover Louis de Clermont d'Amboise (1549 - August 19, 1579 Château de La Coutancière at Brain-sur-Allones) was assasinated on instigation of her husband. The story inspired Alexandre Dumas to his novel "La Dame de Monsoreau" (1846), where she is called Diane de Maridor.
