Notes:
The ploidy of Rosa acicularis may be variable, as authorities list it as both hexaploid and octoploid. Some checks of ploidy in 2010 have revealed that tetraploid forms are fairly common in Alberta, Canada. The Swedish Rose Society recommends Rosa acicularis for northern Sweden. Rosa sichotealinensis Kolesn. Bot. Mater. Gerb. Bot. Inst. Komarova Akad. Nauk S.S.S.R. 15: 123. 1953
