Habit:
Bushy, spreading, well-branched. Semi-glossy foliage. 13 to 15 leaflets.
Height: 4'11" to 16'5" (150 to 500cm). Width: up to 8'2" (up to 250cm).

Label translated by Dr. Yuki Mikanagi as Rosa hirtula (Regel) Nakai. (1920) A spreading bush with simple flowers and thorny stems. Native to Japan and formerly considered a regional variety of Rosa roxburghii R. roxburghii f. hirtula differs from f. normalis by its pubescent foliage. The latter's foliage is smooth.
