Bred by Louis-Joseph-Ghislain Parmentier (Belgium, circa 1840).
Introduced in Australia by Giles and Son in 1881 as 'Fanny Geefs'.
Class:
Gallica / Provins.  
Bloom:
Dark red, purple shading, red center.  Double (17-25 petals), scalloped bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles.  Dense foliage.
