Bred by Alfred Crace Calvert (France, before 1817). Bred by Monsieur (Dr.) Cartier (France, before 1821).
Class:
China / Bengale, Hybrid China.  
Bloom:
Dark red - red, violet shading, dark purple shading.  Strong fragrance.  Average diameter 2".  Medium, very double, globular, reflexed, scalloped, semi-globular bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Growing:
USDA zone 7b and warmer.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Several synonyms according to Prevost and Hardy. 'Boulotte' seems to be a cultivar of Dr. Cartier. It is unclear if this rose was sold under different names, ot whether they rae distinct but similar cultivars.
