Bred by Joseph Schwartz (France, 1884).
Introduced in Australia by C. F. Newman and Sons - Adelaide in 1894 as 'Victor Hugo'.

Bloom:
Crimson, dark purple shading.  Strong fragrance.  Medium to large, semi-double to double, globular, nodding or "weak neck" bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Upright.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to Mildew.
