ARS:
Hybrid China.
Origin:
Bred by Victor Verdier (France, 1840). Bred by Jacques Plantier (France, before 1841).
Class:
Hybrid China, Hybrid Noisette, Hybrid Rubiginosa.
Bloom:
White, pink shading. [Cream, carmine-red edges.].  Large, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles.  5 to 7 leaflets.
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
The synonymy 'Emmeline' = 'Madeline' is incorrect, according to the "Annales de flore et pomone", 'Madeline' is 'Emmeline à fleurs pleine', i.e. Emmeline with full blooms, contrary to the original 'Emmeline', which had semi-double blooms. 'Margin Hip' vs. 'Double Margined Hip' suggests the same.
