'Opalia' rose Reviews & Comments

site www.rogersroses.com mentions the synonym 'Snowflake'.

Opalia is quite a lovely rose. The first two years , she was a bit slow to start, so I cut her really short and the third year she really surprised me with lots and lots of blooms. She is somewhat higher than indicated, easily 4 feet. She was still blooming after the first serious snowfall.

I purchased this rose during the summer for pot culture. The instructions state that White Flower Carpet can be grown in full or part sunlight. I am growing my rose in part sun and the plant is experiencing severe blackspot, rust, and defoliation. I have contacted other rose nurseries about this problem and the staff are just as shocked by this unexpected disease problem as I am. I live in zone 7, often hot and humid summers, This year has been especially wet. Is anyone growing this rose in full sun/part shade or a drier climate with better results?

Hi Victoria I grow a Yellow Flower carpet in partial sun. It apparently is not rated as highly as the white variety in chat that I have seen, however I have had virtually no BS problem and quite a few flowers. I would say that the difference is the humidity. I am in Z6 (NSW AUS) and we have had very dry weather. The only advice I could suggest is to make sure that you pick off all affected leaves, keep the ground free of debri and spray if necessary.
