Breeder's notes:
Magda's Rose 2 is an open-pollinated seedling of R. primula (from PIckering). In November 2014 I planted 6 R. primula seeds from a hip collected earlier in the year and stored in the refrigerator. Five seeds germinated, 2 bloomed in 2016 (both with white flowers), and 2 in 2017 (both with yellow flowers). Magda's Rose 2 is one of the 2017 bloomers. Her canes have so far been red to maroon and are very striking combined with the prolific thorns. This rose is named after one of my Hungarian Kuvasz, Magda. Although Magda had a white coat in toys she preferred yellow and orange ones, and when taken shopping would invariably pick a yellow or orange toy. Her favorite was a huge bright yellow rubber hippopotamus. Magda's Rose 2 is planted in my front yard, in the area designated Magda's Garden in her honor. She died in 2014 at the age of 10 1/2.
