Bred by Gilbert Nabonnand (1828-1903) (France, before 1903).
Introduced in France by Nabonnand P&C in 1903 as 'Alice Hamilton'.
Introduced in Australia by Henry Sewell, Payneham Nurseries in 1905 as 'Alice Hamilton'.

China / Bengale.  

Crimson, vermilion highlights.  Mild, sweet fragrance.  Very large, semi-double (9-16 petals), borne mostly solitary bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long buds.  

Short.  Glossy, dark green foliage.  

Alice Nabonnand (Nabonnand 1904). Fl. rouge cramoisi brillant veloute, reflet garance, tr. gr., demi-pl., gr. petales, bouton allonge, odor. Arb. tr. vig., tr. florif.

i.e. Bright Crimson red, shades of garance, very big, semi-double, big petals, elongated bud, scented, very vigourous bush, very floriferous.

Distributed by Paul and Clement Nabonnand in 1904. (G. Nabonnand died in 1903).
