Breeder's notes:
Viru had christened this lovely small climber, a cross between Faith Whittlesey and Duchesse de Brabant, some years back. This is a seedling from 2011/12 and he was observing its performance. We had planted it down in our Ace of Spades garden, so called because of its shape, like the spade card in playing cards. The garden is surrounded by a ring of ombu trees- Phytolacca dioica . We had visited an ombu forest in Uruguay in 2000 and calm serenity and peace we experienced whilst there left a lasting impression on our minds. We had been looking for seeds of this tree and finally about 10 years back we were able to get some. Viru wanted to create the tranquil atmosphere in a part of our garden so we planted a circle of these trees, but naturally we could’nt be without planting roses too, and this rose Fluttering Wings is happy to cohabit under the shade of the ombus.
Prickles: small size, triangular, grey colour
