My boyfriend, Carlin, was the actual inspiration for this flower. :)

That isn't QUITE correct. I'm Carlin's uncle. His wonderful musical talent was the inspiration for the name of this rose. I had frequently enjoyed watching him rock out on his tenor sax, him really FEELING the music. His joy in playing brought me great joy. The rose was named to honor that wonderful talent and the joy he found through it as well as the joy he provided me with it.

Opps, sorry. :) I'll correct myself. My boyfriend, Carlin, was the inspiration for THE NAME of the flower. :) And if he was that great at playing, I regret not hearing him play yet.

Nothing to be sorry about. Yes, he IS that great playing sax! It was wonderful seeing him rock out while most of the others in the band stood as if they were scared to death, completely solid as stone. But, there was Carlin, FEELING the music and sharing that feeling with everyone watching. That long leg thrust out in front of him with that big old foot keeping tempo. Truly a joy to behold! Treasure that one. He's a good guy, and I am NOT prejudiced. (wink)

There is always some trepidation when naming a rose to honor someone you love. The prayer is that it will be worthy of your loved one's name. It appears this one is in many places.
