CottageKat, thank you, can you tell me more about it, or in general on moss roses? I have rocky soil, and very hot temps in the summer, part shade can be found but yours is in full sun.

First let me say that I am no rose expert. I learned a great deal on the Gardenweb Antique Roses forum. I grow about 90 old roses and this is one of my faves. It almost always has a few blooms and has 2 or 3 flushes dring the season. Most mosses only bloom once. Also it smell wonderful. Mine is growing at the top of a stone wall that is as much stone as it is soil. We have temps that range from below zero in winter to 100 in summer and all of the old roses make it through okay. From my experience all roses prefer as much sun as possible. Hope this helps.

Super! Thanks for your info, I have been looking up Gallica and Moss roses, and found that Gallica roses like iron in their soil-the dark reds have the most in them. Mr. William Paul's book on roses. (Google Books). GW is a great place to learn, roses are not my strength either.
