Hi I have pauls himalayan musk. I'm in southern VT right on the border of z5 z4. This rose blooms on old wood, and so far everything above the snow line has been killed ( i've had it two winters). I got a few blooms this year from the one or two canes that were horizontal below the snow, so if you laid the whole thing down you might have good luck, but it would be kind of a chore with the long and thorny canes this rose throws. All in all, I think this rose does better in the south.

After 3 years from planting the rose showed its beauty and it was just amazing. The full bloom period was about 3 weeks. Canes are quite flexible as to other ramblers.

I'd expect your bloom period to vary depending upon the length of the weather which encourages it to bloom. A long, mild spring should provide you with weeks of flowers. When you get one like we often get here in Southern California, where the prime weather lasts but a week or two before the high heat hits, it will be much shorter. I think you will find this rose highly influenced by temperature and lenght and quality of sunlight. Here, Wistaria can bloom for a quite a few weeks, or literally a week, as can the Banksia roses, all depending upon how long the weather they prefer lasts.
