This is simply a postscript to my previous comment. These plants are amazing, yes, but the stems are weak. A moderate rain, moderate spraying with hose, or brushing past the bush while walking results in the entire flower head falling off its stem. But otherwise everything I said still stands!

My solution for weak stems is banana peels (not the whole banana!). Grind them up in the blender and pour them around the base of the plant. I use two peels for a small rose, and up to six peels for a large bush; I apply them in spring and after the first bloom. You can freeze the peels until you need them. Try banana peels -- I think you will see a huge difference.
