VARIEGATA DI BOLOGNA (varietà di Moscata? X Pride of Reigate). Fiori grandi in forma di coppa, doppissimi, aprentesi bene, molto profumati, solitari o riuniti a tre o quattro, eretti sopra uno stelo robusto. Petali grandi, rosso vivo vellutato a riflessi violacei, ben variegati di bianco e rosa chiaro, talvolta rosa variegati di bianco carneo; la variegatura è tanto estesa che certi fiori a prima vista sembrerebbero a fondo rosa variegati di rosso. Varietà splendida, per la bellissima variegatura che la distingue da tutte le altre variegate. Arbusto di grande sviluppo, rami rigidi, lunghi talvolta anche due metri, provvisti di molte spine sottili e molto ineguali, qualcuna grande. Internodi corti. Foglie grandi, composte generalmente di 5 e talvolta di 7 foglioline verde cupo superiormente, bianco verdastro nella parte inferiore. Dà una abbondantissima fioritura in primavera e raramente qualche fiore in autunno; ma ciò non pertanto, data la bellezza del fiore e la costanza della variegatura, siamo lusingati che ogni amatore che la veda, desidererà vivamente di poterla ammirare nella propria collezione.
