Rose photo courtesy of AndyONE England - Rosa 'Peter's Persica' - a climbing hybrid Hulthemia persica rose.
Bred as a tribute to Peter Seabrook, who died in January aged 86, by Shropshire-based rose breeder Chris Warner with the endorsement of the Seabrook family. Peter was a well known British horticulturist, gardening writer and television broadcaster.
Persica roses are derived from Rosa persica, a rose native to Iran and Afghanistan. Chris Warner, who developed the rose, said: '''Peter’s Persica' has been 30 years in the making, beginning its life as a desert rose in Iran". The rose has just come into commerce circa 2023.

From Gardening Illustrated, vol. 24, 1902, p. 501, where I am happy to report we learn its parentage at last: "This, which was awarded the Gold Medal of the National Rose Society at the Temple Show in 1901, is said to be a seedling from ‘Papa Gontier’ crossed with ‘Isabella Sprunt’. It somewhat resembles the former in smoothness of petal, and there is a yellow shade at the base of the deep coloured petals that it probably takes from the other parent."
