Elle has been vigorous and winter-hardy in zone 6a for six years now with no winter protection and virtually no winter die-back, where many of my roses start with all new growth each spring. This is a great rose.

The patent to this rose reads a little odd to me. It doesn't state a plant patent but it states other coding instead.
"Application number: 10/114,445 Publication number: US 2003/0192090 P1 Filing date: Apr 3, 2002"
"[0003] The new variety of Rosa hybrida Hybrid Tea rose plant was created by artificial pollination wherein two parents were crossed which previously had been studied in the hope that they would contribute the desired characteristics. The female parent (i.e., the seed parent) was the 'Purple Splendour' variety (non-patented in the United States). The male parent (i.e., the pollen parent) was the product of the cross of the 'Johnago' variety (non-patented in the United States) and the 'Meikinosi' variety (nonpatented in the United States). The 'Meikinosi' variety sometimes is known as the 'Tchin-Tchin' variety. The parentage of the new variety can be summarized as follows:
'Purple Splendour'x('Johnago'x'Meikinosi')."
So, we know now that the Tchin-Tchin stated as a parent is the yellow HT version and not the orange-red floribunda version.

Elle has been great, this first summer in my garden--and it only gets 5 hours of sun. Only drawback is that the stems are not very long. A lovely rose. Betsy, Zone 7
