Bred by Reimer Kordes (1922-1997) (Germany, before 1956).
Introduced in United Kingdom by Samuel McGredy and Son, Nurserymen (Northern Ireland) in 1959 as 'Lilli Marleen'.
Introduced by Unknown (Australia) in 1960 as 'Lilli Marleen'.
Introduced in United States by Jackson & Perkins Co. (Newark, NY) in 1961 as 'Lilli Marleen'.
Class:
Floribunda.  
Bloom:
Red.  Crimson.  None to mild fragrance.  25 petals.  Average diameter 2.75".  Medium to large, double (17-25 petals), in large clusters, flat bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Bushy, compact.  

Height: 20" to 30" (50 to 75cm).  Width: 2' (60cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 5b and warmer.  Can be used for beds and borders.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot , susceptible to Mildew.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
