Florida zone 9b. First year planted. 90+ degree heat in June.

Zone 10b (usda hardiness) . Partial afternoon shade. First bloom of a bareroot planted this year. Bought from Northland Rosarium. "About Face" .
Zero rose fragrance, at least this morning, yet a pleasant and fresh-almost vegetable aroma. Despite my strong preference for heavily fragrant roses, I am very pleased. I feel something so endearing for this rose. I especially love the underneath coloring, incredibly pleasing to my eyes. And the saucer like shape of her bloom conveys a feeling of sweetness, childhood innocence and wonder. I know a little dramatic for a flower. Just my impression.
So she's a keeper in spite of her lack of fragrance and presence of impressive thorns for her type.
And she does have very long and daunting thorns, especially for such a tiny baby rose. Still I find her worth it.
