'KORlech' rose Reviews & Comments

Have grown this for three years and I would not do without it for the following reasons: I do not know of any other rose that has masses of truly dark red flowers that last for a month, are rain tolerant and do not fade to a purplish color. It also self-cleans very well. However, in this 5b zone, it does get affected by black spot. Just need to cover the legs with something lower and healthy.

The description lists it as the same rose as Intrigue. Intrigue is purple with a very strong fragrance and gets about four feet tall; this one is always red with mild fragrance. I have both.

Anita...
You have pointed out what some people consider to be a very irritating practice in the rose world ... the re-use of a rose name for another rose. On HMF, the way we separate the rose page is to put information about the class of the rose, the breeder and date in parenthesis in order to create a "unique" rose name in the database.
If you were to look up 'Intrigue' using the SEARCH feature, you will find two roses with this name bred by two different breeders. The purple rose was bred by William A Warriner and introduced in 1982. The Koredes rose was introduced in 1978, but the REFERENCES do not show when the synonym 'Intrigue' was first used for the rose.
