Bred by Patrick Grant (1860-1945) (Australia, before 1921).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1921 as 'Midnight Sun'.

Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Dark red.  Black shadings which persist on a dark or bright red bloom. Red stamens..  None to mild fragrance.  Small to medium, semi-double (9-16 petals), borne mostly solitary bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Small buds.  
Habit:
Matte, attractive fall color foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
The parentage has been reversed in some references.
Refer 1924 reference in which the breeder states the pollen parent as 'Star of Queensland'.
