Origin:
Bred by Reimer Kordes (1922-1997) (Germany, 1985).
Introduced in United States by Jackson & Perkins Co. (post 1970) in 1986 as 'Kardinal 85'.
Class:
Florists Rose, Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Scarlet, yellow undertones.  None to mild fragrance.  30 to 35 petals.  Average diameter 4.5".  Large, very double, borne mostly solitary, high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Upright.  Light green, leathery foliage.  5 to 7 leaflets.  

Height: up to 4' (up to 120cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant, mildew resistant.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .  Can be grown in the ground or in a container (container requires winter protection).

Inventor: Reimer Kordes; Werner Kordes; Hermann Kordes (Klein Offenseth-Sparrieshoop, DE). Assignee: Jackson & Perkins Company (Medford, OR). A hybrid tea rose variety having long stems bearing scarlet blooms of heavy substance (thick petals), long pointed buds, low fragrance, and good resistance to rose powdery mildew... Parentage: 'Flamingo' x an unnamed variety. The primary objective of this breeding was to produce a new rose variety of the hybrid tea class bearing Scarlet flowers of improved petal substance, on long stems, and suitable for production of cut blooms.
