Introduced in United Kingdom by Prince's Oxford Roses in 1923 as 'Allen Chandler'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1925 as 'Allen Chandler'.

Climber, Hybrid Tea, Cl., Large-Flowered Climber.  

Crimson - scarlet.  Mild fragrance.  Average diameter 5".  Large, semi-double (9-16 petals), borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in small clusters bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long, pointed buds.  

Tall, climbing, few or no prickles/thorns.  Large, glossy, dark green, leathery foliage.  

Height: 5' to 17' (150 to 520cm).  Width: up to 8' (up to 245cm).

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for garden or pillar.  Hardy.  vigorous.  a good subject for pegging.  heat tolerant.  produces decorative hips.
