Class:

Shrub.

Bloom:

Pink. Strong fragrance. Average diameter 2". Double (17-25 petals), flat to cupped bloom form. Occasional repeat later in the season.

Habit:

Tall, arching, bushy, spreading. Medium, matte, medium green foliage.

Height: 7' to 8' (215 to 245cm). Width: 3" to 6" (8 to 15cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Can be used for hedge, landscape or specimen. Can be grown as a shrub. can be trained as a climber. flowers drop off cleanly. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant. Remove spent blooms to encourage re-bloom. Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood.. Can be grown as a climber in mild climates. Needs little care; relatively disease-free and quite hardy. Prune dead wood. Prune lightly or not at all. This rose blooms on old wood.

Breeder's notes:

This rose should be quite cold hardy, being a self seedling of a R. Arcicularis hybrid. I'd looked for the Arcicularis shrub, Pike's Peak for some time. My friend, Candy Craig, found one of her fellow Beaulah Belles had a very old plant from the time it was introduced. She had known the breeder and had maintained it because of her friendship with him. Candy obtained cuttings for me, and brought them from Colorado. Some had hips on them, and I germinated many of the seeds to get an idea what may be possible from it. This seedling intrigued me, so I kept it.

The Beaulah Belles is a group of "mature" ladies in Beaulah, Colorado who gather monthly to celebrate each other's birthdays and other social events. Because one of them shared the cuttings which contained the seed which created this rose, I offered to name it for the Belles.
