Breeder's notes:
I had raised Mutabilis seedlings out of curiosity, but found too many once blooming, white, single, very thorny plants. Mateo's Silk Butterflies provided this seedling. In my climate, Mateo's is like Mutabilis, only in mauves as opposed to the reddish, earth tones of Mutabilis. This seedling begins lighter pink and darkens with age, heat and brighter light. In the early days of the synthetic fiber,
'Rayon', articles made from it often turned pink with age. As this rose turns pink and since it is a seedling of "Silk Butterflies", I chose the name "Rayon Butterflies" intended as a pun on the original name.
