To my nose it smells like Gertrude Jekyll, but not as sweet or strong.

Beautiful show of flowers, disease resistant, and wonderful fragrance. What more could one ask for? After the deer pruned mine the first year, and it re-bloomed in the fall, I cut it back by about a third after first blooming and it repeats late summer with a less abundant bloom. Grows fine in part-shade.

Mmmmmhh... A pure Alba rose which repeats flowers? Sound very strange... Could you post a picture of flowers and foliage? Thank you!

'Jacques Cartier' was in commerce masquerading as 'Queen of Denmark' in CA in the late 1990s. Perhaps that is what the poster had.

Hardy to at least USDA Zone 4. Completely hardy here in USDA Zone 5. Gorgeous flowers with a haunting old rose fragrance. Queen of Denmark has a long spring blooming period of at least several weeks. The shrub itself remains clean and fairly orderly. On its own roots it tends to sucker, but not overwhemingly so. Establishes quickly, so it's very productive by its second year. Disease resistant, insect resistant, and even the deer and rabbits don't seem to bother it much, unlike some of the other roses that are nearby. A real winner, especially for cold zoners.
