'McGredy's Yellow' rose References
Book  (1947)

p13.  Harry H. Hazlewood.  Novelty.
Yellows which retain their colour longer than average: McGredy's Yellow, Mrs. P. S. du Pont, Souv. de C. Pernet, Souv. de M. Boullet, Ville de Paris.

p23.  Norman Lambert, York, England.
Yellow Roses seem to stand out on rainy days. When others seem commonplace, the clear colour of McGredy's Yellow, Phyllis Gold and Golden Dawn shines like a lantern. I like them better in autumn when the colour is more intense.

p33.  W. A. Stewart, Glen Iris, Victoria.  Favourite Roses.
Among the varieties of fairly recent introduction which I have tried in the last year or two, probably the most outstanding is McGredy's Yellow. With me it has done remarkably well. Right from the time of planting it has made excellent growth and has continued to show the same vigour. It is of clean habit, the leaves being a bright, glossy green, and are disease resistant. It is most floriferous, the plant seldom being without one or two flowers. These are of a rich yellow, described in the catalogues as a buttercup yellow, and the colour holds well. The blooms are held well up on stiff stems, making it most attractive in the garden, and they have a sweet perfume. McGredy's Yellow is an ideal exhibitor's Rose, both for bunches and for the specimen grower. There is plenty of size in the flowers, and they invariably come with those good, firm-pointed centres so much sought after by exhibitors..

McGredy's Yellow is always a pale, clear lemon, but as the colour in spring is the same as autumn, she moves higher up in the list.

Mr. H. R. Darlington.  Crimson Roses.
The habit of the plants should be fairly symmetrical and bushy, avoiding, on the one hand, a too rigidly upright habit such as we find in Dame Edith Helen and McGredy's Yellow,

H. R. Darlington.  Notes on Roses And Their Perfume.
Few of the yellow Roses possess the old Rose fragrance.  McGredy's Yellow and Phyllis Gold are beautiful flowers, but none would grow them for their perfume.
