This year my Polish Spirit is blooming in late May, about 6 weeks too early, and the flowers are huge, nearly 8" across. Is this maybe a rootstock sucker? it's the right color, but totally wrong season and size. I don't know if clematis are grafted like roses are.

We got 3 this spring (2006) and Polish Spirit was a good first year clematis. Very good rebloom.
