Introduced in United Kingdom by George Jackman & Son in 1863 as 'Jackmanii'.
Introduced in Belgium by L. Jacob-Makoy et Cie in 1865 as 'Jackmanii'.
Class:
Group 3, Large-flowered, Late.  
Bloom:
Violet.  4 to 6 petals.  Average diameter 4".  Single, semi-nodding bloom form.  
Habit:

Height: 10' to 12' (305 to 365cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 3b through 9b.  Plant in sun or partial shade.  In early spring, cut back to just above the lowest set of healthy buds.
